Runaway Christian Convert To Stay With Foster Parents
A Florida judge ruled Thursday that a teen who ran away from her Ohio home after converting to Christianity from Islam will be allowed to remain with her Foster parents for the time being.
Rifqa Bary ran away to Orlando, Florida and stayed with a Christian couple whom she met on Facebook out of fear that her parents would kill her because of her conversation.
Judge Daniel Dawson said both parties need to have a mediation on how to best move forward. In addition Dawson issued a issued a gag order, saying all lawyers involved in case could not speak to media unless it was a procedural issue and sealed the Florida Law Enforcement Department report on the findings of Bary’s allegations for at least 10 days.
Dawson restricted Bary from any visitation access to Rev. Blake Lorenz and his wife Beverly, the couple she met on Facebook, but Dawson said she is allowed to visit with the Lorenz children who are in their early twenties.
Bary stayed with the Lorenz family after running away from her Ohio home, but waited to tell authorities for over 2 weeks.
