Pro-life groups and pastors plan to stop a Nebraska doctor from setting up his abortion mill in Wichita, Kan., where late-term abortionist George Tiller had operated for more than three decades before he was killed in May.

Dr. LeRoy Carhart said Wednesday that he will perform third-term abortions in Kansas after the slaying of abortion provider George Tiller, and his “main choice” for the clinics location is Wichita.

In response, anti-abortion group Operation Rescue launched its “Keep It Closed” campaign to stop Carhart from opening a late-term abortion clinic “in Nebraska, Kansas, or any other state.”

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said on their website that his group will use all legal options to stop this from happening.

“We are dedicated to working through every legal means to stop LeRoy Carhart from following through on his threats to open a late-term abortion clinic to replace Tiller’s clinic.”

Furthermore, the group says that records on file with the Nebraska Department of Heath “indicate that Carhart has falsified entries on patient charts, interrupted abortions due to fatigue or exhaustion, engaged in personal phone conversations in the middle of abortions, and failed to train his staff on infection control protocols.”

Case in point. In 2005 Christin Gilbert, a 19 year old  and very vulnerable woman with down syndrome was was raped by a sexual predator in her small town, was unfortunately taken by her parents to Tiller’s abortion clinic, where Carhart was assisting.

In a botched late-term abortion, Carhart and the staff finally called 9-1-1  (waiting every last second in order to hide the situation), after she was nearly dead.  During the call, Tiller’s staff along with LeRoy Carhart were more concerned for business than the life of Ms. Gilbert.  Although Ms. Gilbert was dying, they begged the dispatcher “Please, please, please, no lights and no sirens!” and then placed the 911 operator on-hold for forty-five critical seconds! (LISTEN TO ACTUAL 9-1-1 CALL)

Ultimately as a result of the Carhart’s cold blooded malice and negligence, Christine died. The staff and his actions that day makes one question why they have not stood trial for the death of Ms. Gilbert.

As a result of the millions of babies and many of their mothers who have died at the hands of men like Carhart, Operation Rescue has made it a mission to close down these clinics.

“We have vast experience gained over years of legally and peacefully closing abortion clinics around the nation and will be putting that experience into practice in new and creative ways in the coming weeks and months,” said Newman.

On another front against Carhart, pastors affiliated with the Heartland Transformation Ministry Network and the Full Gospel Pastor’s Association, and others are calling on the Kansas Board of Healing Arts to take a closer look at Carhart, saying that his past work with and substituting for Tiller has made him suspect that he too has likely broke Kansas’ late-term abortion law, according to the Christian Post .

In 2007, the Kansas Board received a petition, asking them to investigate other doctors who worked with Tiller, but with his death, the investigation was closed.  Anti-abortion groups want the Board to refocus on the other doctors.

“Understandably, because of his murder, the Board has dropped the complaint against Dr. Tiller’s license,” said Mary Kay Culp, executive director of Kansans for Life, said in a June 12 statement.  She adds, “our concern is that unless the Board follows up on other related open complaints, the illegal activity cited could be continued by these other doctors.” Culp says that the matter is now of urgent importance “given that Leroy Carhart has announced his intention to open a late-term abortion clinic in Kansas.”

Kansans for Life say that since 1998, abortionists are required to file state abortion reports, but “none of the over 5,000 late-term abortions (nearly 3,000 of them on viable unborn babies) since then, have been reported as done to prevent the mother’s death.”

Carhart operates an abortion clinic in Bellevue, Nebraska called the Abortion and Contraception Clinic of Nebraska. He is also licensed to operate in Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
